Phnom Penh entertainment
OK, after visiting historic sites, eating/drinking, maybe too much, and completing your souvenir shopping, it’s time for something completely different.
This page is all about popular sports & pastimes, such as football, tennis, swimming, 10-pin bowling, keeping fit & going to the movies, etc. Get involved or simply relax as a spectator.
This is where to find your favorite sports, the best place to swim, and have a beer(s), maybe while doing nothing in particular, on a blisteringly hot day.
New balls please!

Phnom Penh Entertainment and the SEA Games
Following the hugely successful SEA Games, a reflection
“Emerging from torrential rain, a star was born” Representing Cambodia, 20-year-old Bou Samnang, competed in the 5000-meter race at the SEA Games in Phnom Penh, and although coming in last, won not a medal, but the hearts of millions in her home country, and around the world.
A truly inspired performance in front of her home crowd. Squelching along the relentless storm-drenched track, while wiping driving rain from her eyes. It almost seemed as though the rain was determined to compete with her tears, as she broke down, after crossing the finishing line.
This image of pure determination and courage, never to give up, will stay with me for many years.
I just love this story, which surely has a lesson for us all. For further interest, there are many sites on YouTube showing this girl’s epic performance, under her name, Bou Samnang

Phnom Penh Entertainment and TV
Details of movies, shows, exhibitions, etc., check online or in the local press, such as the Phnom Penh Post & Khmer Times. English Premier League and F1 etc. may be available on TV at one or more of the restaurants/bars on the riverfront, near Street 136. However, you will need to check it out for yourself, to see who is open and what particular matches/events they intend showing.

Evening “entertainment” around streets 104 & 136 etc.
Phnom Penh entertainment, Ladies & Lady Drinks. A lighthearted comment on what is a quite serious matter.
Girlie bars, of course, are a far cry from the lady skulking around dark corners up the high street, or in the shadows of the park gates. The air-conditioning and closeness of your newfound “friend”, hopefully, encourage you to buy her a “lady drink”. Sometimes three times the price that you’ll be paying, for your likewise glass of amber nectar.
When suitably inebriated, it might lead to decision time. You may be invited to a comfy room out back, where you can choose between a “short time” or “long time”. With less than a clear head, desperately trying to get to the “bottom” of the burning issues: how long is a short time, and how short is a long time, while in some frantic desperation, negotiating your ”friends“ required remuneration.
Phnom Penh entertainment, Cute, charming, condoms, and condominiums
While not wishing to criticize what others do, it is up to individuals to keep a sense of reality and exercise a degree of caution and commonsense. Not becoming so intoxicated, you can’t tell the difference between a condom and a condominium. This will go some way to making time and money spent on a truly pleasurable & perhaps “educational” experience, rather than a financial nightmare, with a big headache, the following morning.
Phnom Penh entertainment, how much to replace your smartphone?
Sensible too, leave your smartphone behind, in a safe place, & carry only enough money for your evening entertainment, and your journey home!
Dare I say, as with most things in life: Be wise before the event.

Dinosaurs Alive, Phnom Penh
Interesting and educational for children of all ages who like dinosaurs. Lots of things to do in this fun park. The entrance fee for adults is $8 and $5 for children. Young ones go in free of charge, but for a few of the activities, there may be additional charges. However, suggest you check their Facebook page before traveling for opening days/hours, and up-to-date entrance fees and conditions.
Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to go in, but the girl at the ticket counter mentioned that there were no refreshment facilities on site.
How to get there: From the city, cross the Changvar bridge and at the large Prohm Bayon Circle, go around and take a right-hand exit, (looks like the 4th exit) just beyond the entrance for NR6. A little way up this road, you arrive at a roundabout with a statue of three Apsara ladies dancing. Go straight ahead, and almost immediately, the Dinosaurs Alive will be on your right.
Note: From the Changvar bridge exit, it is about a 12-minute walk.
